Under the umbrella of disability is also pregnancy, as it can make it hard to stand for long hours or require you to make more frequent trips to the bathroom due to changes with bladder control.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you have a permanent or temporary disability that qualifies you for reasonable accommodations in the workplace, your employer is obligated to do so unless it would create undue hardship. Undue hardship involves being too costly or difficult to make the changes or that it would negatively impact the business, such as it impacting production rates or leaving a department with no staff.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you believe you\u2019ve been the victim of <a href=\"https:\/\/shegerianconniff.com\/dev\/practice_areas\/disability-discrimination-lawyers-shegerian-conniff\/\">disability discrimination<\/a> in Los Angeles, what do you do next? California law considers all of these conditions to be physical disabilities:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amputations or missing limbs<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blindness<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cerebral palsy<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chronic or episodic conditions like COPD, diabetes, epilepsy, heart disease, hepatitis, HIV, and multiple sclerosis.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deafness<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Paralysis or other mobility issues that require wheelchair use<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mental conditions are included if they limit activities of daily living:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Autism spectrum disorders<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bipolar disorder<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clinical depression<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cognitive disabilities<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Emotional illnesses<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mental illness<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OCD<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PTSD<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schizophrenia<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pregnancy is also covered under California law.
