  • Shegerian & Conniff Files Lawsuit Alleging Sexual Harassment and Retaliation Against Los Angeles Metro

Former Metro bus driver claims she was subjected to repeated harassment and forced to resign after the agency failed to act on her complaints.

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, November 4, 2025 Shegerian & Conniff, LLP, a Los Angeles-based employment law firm, has filed a lawsuit on behalf of former Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) bus driver Jorden Carter, 21. During Carter’s time with Metro, she was subjected to ongoing sexual harassment and ultimately forced to resign. This was due to repeated inappropriate behavior by a veteran trainer in his 50s who called her “chocolate cutie” and made other unwanted comments about her appearance leading up to her resignation.

Carter’s claims include sexual harassment, gender discrimination, retaliation and failure to prevent misconduct. Despite reporting the trainer’s conduct to Metro management, the agency failed to open an investigation and instead, Carter was assigned to grueling 12-hour shifts without adequate breaks. This left her exhausted and feeling punished for speaking up to management. The working conditions became so unbearable to the point that she was forced to resign in February 2025.

In a statement regarding the suit, Metro said it “believes all employees deserve a safe and supportive work environment and takes allegations of behavior that violates that principle seriously,” but declined to comment further citing ongoing litigation.

“Anytime an employee feels uncomfortable in a workplace situation or is subject to sexual harassment, management must act swiftly to resolve the issue. In this case, Metro management failed to act leading to our client ultimately being forced to resign from their job,” said Cortney Shegerian.

Carter is represented by Shegerian Conniff LLP attorneys Heather Conniff, Cortney Shegerian and Monica Rokhman.
