A Los Angeles woman alleges she was manipulated by the musician and subjected to serious privacy violations following their interactions.

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, January 12, 2026 – Los Angeles–based civil rights law firm Shegerian Conniff LLP has announced that a lawsuit has been filed alleging that recording artist Blackbear engaged in manipulation and invasions of privacy with their client. As a result of this, the plaintiff states this caused her significant emotional and personal harm for years.

According to the complaint, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, the plaintiff claims the singer used his fame and influence to manipulate her and violate her privacy. The lawsuit goes on to outline numerous allegations that Blackbear’s conduct went beyond inappropriate communication.

Oftentimes, the defendant’s behavior would escalate to the level the plaintiff describes as deeply intrusive and harmful. According to the suit, “On multiple occasions, the plaintiff awoke naked in Musto’s bed with no memory of what had occurred, leaving her terrified, confused and entirely vulnerable to his control”.

The complaint also alleges that the defendant initiated and facilitated opioid usage in the plaintiff, taking advantage of her vulnerability and causing severe emotional distress. This was furthered by the defendant allegedly sharing intimate and private sexual photographs of the plaintiff online on social media without her consent.

When the plaintiff would seek to set boundaries to curb this behavior, all attempts were repeatably ignored by the defendant. Overtime, the defendant’s actions caused such severe emotional distress that the plaintiff was prompted to seek legal action for restitution.

The filed suit seeks reparations for the emotional suffering and breaches of privacy by the defendant. The case is currently ongoing, with updates to occur as the case moves forward in the system.

The Plaintiff is represented by Shegerian Conniff LLP attorneys Heather Conniff and Cortney Shegerian.
