RIVERSIDE, CA, UNITED STATES, APRIL 145 2025 — Shegerian Conniff LLP has filed a lawsuit on behalf of former Amazon employee Tamara Turner, who alleges she was subjected to disability discrimination, retaliation, and a failure to accommodate her medical condition, ultimately forcing her to resign.
Turner began working at Amazon in July 2021 as a warehouse employee. Over time, she developed severe back pain and was later diagnosed with sciatica, a condition that made lifting, bending, and twisting increasingly difficult. Despite repeatedly requesting accommodations and providing medical documentation, Turner alleges that Amazon failed to consistently honor her work restrictions and repeatedly reassigned her to physically demanding duties that worsened her condition.
According to the complaint, Turner suffered a workplace injury in August 2023 and was instructed by her doctor to avoid heavy lifting. Although she was temporarily accommodated, management allegedly continued to place her in roles that violated her medical restrictions. Her requests for accommodation were later denied entirely, leaving her with the choice of working in pain or taking unpaid leave.
Ultimately, Turner alleges she was forced to resign in June 2025 after her hours were reduced and her accommodations were not properly implemented.
Turner’s claims include disability discrimination, retaliation, failure to accommodate, and wrongful constructive termination. She is seeking damages for lost wages and emotional distress.
“This case underscores the importance of respecting employee health and medical limitations in the workplace,” said a representative of Shegerian Conniff LLP.
This case was filed in Los Angeles County under case numbers CVRI2504805.
